Music: It’s Only A Paper Moon

Did you see the moon tonight? Here in cold dry Colorado it was beautiful, big and very white. Fitting song to go along with the moon this first day of 2018, the year of the dog. What does that have to do with the moon? Nothing just a random fact I threw in there. Listen and I hope you enjoy.

Why a Green Thread?

Some 40 years ago, or more, there arose a dispute between my sister and my brother-in-law over a certain piece of fabric. Was it gray, or was it green? I don't remember who argued which way, but in the end, my peacemaking sister pointed to the cloth and explained, "Look--it has a green thread in it!"

From then on, we were finding "a green thread" in every piece of fabric we saw. It had become a family joke.

As time went on, and the concept of going green came along, it occurred to me that our family had been green all along, recycling, repurposing, reusing all we could, more out of necessity than social conscience. So today I see that there is a metaphorical green thread running through our family.

It goes beyond using what you have, which we do. It's more than just finding pleasure in making old things new. It's making sure everything in your home has a purpose. You see, holding on to something you no longer need is wastefulness. So it's really about respecting God's provision. And look for a green thread in everything.
