Adventure Saturday

We have heard about Mount Herman Road since we moved to Colorado.  The mountain closest to Monument is Mount Herman.

Here  is some information on this mountain.  Small, very small by comparison to the other Colorado Rockies, but we love it.  So, back to the road, it is another way to get to the other side of the front range.  Beyond the front range is mostly mountains until the plains beside Utah.  There are not a lot of roads going across these babies, but Mount Herman road will get you to the other side.  We had heard that when the pass going up CO 24 was closed, and it does if it rains a lot, this road will get you home if you live in Woodland Park.  We thought we would drive it today, no snow, no rain, and summer time.  It was beautiful!  But...we thought we would be gone only a couple or 3 hours, all day!  It was crazy!

This was in the beginning, looking back toward our neck of the woods.

Plenty of rocks like this and MUCH bigger.

The gate that closes the road and ...

we have heard there are more bigfoot sightings in this area and Pikes Peak region than in all the US.

Yes, we had a fun day.  Sat in the car way too long and the road just seemed to never end.  We wondered at times if we were just lost in the Rocky Mountains.  We saw other cars and felt sure we would eventually get out, but with no cell signal and no map, we were not sure!  We had been to the farmer's market and got fresh fruit and had tea and water, and pretzels and plenty of daylight.  We just never expected to turn and twist that much and not even cover very much area.  And that is just a very small portion of these Colorado Rockies.

Just another installment of Adventure Saturday.
