A little about me...

I am a stay-at-home wife with three grown children.  After raising and home-schooling my children, I spent hours on the John Deere wondering, "what's next?"  I had attempted upholstery on my own but had NO clue what I was doing.  So when the vo-tech offered Beginning Upholstery, I signed up.

I fell in love, and am now an "Advanced Upholsterer," at least according to the vo-tech.  Can I do anything I set my sights on?  Not quite yet. But I've done some interesting pieces and I'm always up for a challenge.  My passion must have inspired my busy, self-employed husband too, because he hopes to join me one day.

Much of my inspiration comes from my hardworking carpenter father and stay-at-home mother, who, back in the day, took on whatever work she could to help make ends meet, including upholstery but also alterations and other sewing projects.  Our home was always furnished with projects she and my father completed.

Today, when I'm not keeping books for my husband, I'm a kitty wrangler and Doberman keeper.  The boys are always there to "help" with my projects, invited or not.

I also share some of the care for my now elderly mother, who is still very much an inspiration.

More on these chairs later, they represent my three children.

My sweet mother, she's 92 and has the most positive outlook on life.  After all we have been through in the last year that is a testament to where her heart is!

Last April we found out my sister, on the right, had stage 4 uterine cancer.  She and my mother moved into my other sister's house and we cared for her through grueling chemotherapy and a study drug.  She went from bad to worse quickly.  She was almost non-communicative very quickly.  She had always been my big sister that I shared my birthday with .  Next to my husband she was my best friend.  She died peacefully early on May 29th, 2013.  I have had a difficult time since we realized how sick she had been.  In life she was the quiet but loving and strong supportive sister.   She never married and was the most wonderful auntie that any child could have.  She was a BIG influence in her 6 nieces and  nephews and 6 great nieces and nephew's lives.  She has been greatly missed and our lives without her have only just begun.

We shared a love for this little mountain town, Westcliffe, CO.  Someday I would like to call this place home.
